Mrs Sanderson and Mrs Fairley have each taken a tub of potatoes home. Mrs Sanderson has left a comment Mrs Bromley’s blog to let us know that her tub of potatoes have a few green shoots!
Fantastic news, we are sure it won’t be long before Mrs Fairley’s tub shows a few shoots.
Hope you all have a great holiday!

Usually, after self-registration, we have half an hour of activities.
Mrs Bromley lined us up outside the class today at 9am, and told us there would be no activities today, just board sums as we needed the practise.
Our top group only add and subtract up to 20, and the board was full of sums going into thousands and millions.
We were really worried for a few minutes, until Molly realised it was a joke, and reminded us it was April Fool’s day.
Mrs Bromley cannot believe we fell for it, especially since we were plotting all day yesterday on what to do to her!!!!!!

Well, we finished ‘chitting’ our potatoes, and have planted them. Mrs Bromley went shopping and bought two big plant pots.
We all took turns at putting soil into the tubs. After filling the tubs to about halfway up, we put the seed potatoes into the soil.

After that, we filled the tubs up with soil. Mrs Bromley also put some ‘Miracle Grow’ in to help the potatoes to grow.
Mrs. Mooney’s mum grows lots of potatoes, and she has given us lots of tips on how to look after our potatoes – thanks very much.
We need to make sure our potatoes are looked after during the spring break, so if you are willing to take one ofthe tubs home, please let Mrs. Bromley know.
Hopefully, we should see something happening soon!
The tubs are at the school entrance, please have a look if you are passing.

We have started to make a beautiful spring display. So far, we have added some new leaves to our tree, made some baby lambs and their mummies and daddies, and some handprint butterflies.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what else we can add to our spring display?
Why not try to make you own handprint butterflies – click here to find out how.

Our first shoot has appeared – hurrah!!!!

This shoot comes from the Nasturtium seed that Molly planted – well done Molly, you obviously have green fingers.

This week we are also starting to grow our own potatoes as part of a national ‘Grow Your Own Potatoes’ initiative.
We will be putting seed potatoes into empty egg boxes and sitting them on a window ledge for a few weeks. This is called ‘chitting’ and allows the sprouts to harden.

There will also be a Potato Cam at http://potatoesforschools.org.uk/ where you can see how the ‘experts’ are getting on.
If anyone else is taking part in ‘Grow Your Own Potatoes’ we’d love to hear how you are getting on.
Does anyone grow their own vegetables at home?

The Garden Centre is our new topic.
P6 helped us to plant Nasturtium seeds. We cannot wait for them to grow.
We did a science experiment on the Internet to find out a bit more about what plants need to grow. We found out that plants need water, heat and light to grow.
Why don’t you try it yourself? Click here for the experiment.
Did you know that you can eat Nasturtium leaves and flowers in salads?
Are there any other flowers that you can eat?
